2025 Russell & Suitor 'Isabella' Pipers River Chardonnay
· 95pts Sam Kim "Refined and complex, the enticing bouquet shows apricot, grapefruit, nougat, roasted cashew, and biscotti aromas, leading to a wonderfully weighted palate offering a creamy flow, backed by fine acidity, finishing persistent and harmonious. It's gorgeously styled and expressed, making it hugely appealing. At its best: 2027 to 2035."
· Vino Masters Score: 95 / 100 "Pale gold with brilliant clarity. The aroma is expressive, offering white peach, citrus blossom and subtle brioche complexity. The palate is finely textured and balanced, combining stone fruit richness with bright lemon citrus acidity, lifted by a buttery and cashew oak influence. A salty and mineral thread runs through the mid-palate, enhancing structure and length. The finish is long, fresh and composed. Careful oak maturation adds subtle creaminess without compromising its regional elegance. A poised cool-climate Chardonnay showing precision and balance. Will evolve gracefully over the medium term. ★★★★★ Polished, structured and full flavoured. Isabella is proud! Drink now or cellar to 2030."
· 93+pts Campbell Mattinson "Good Tasmanian chardonnay, when it’s young, has a great ability to be both elegant and reticent but also, at the same time, compelling. This makes these wines great to drink whilst young but also to look forward to. This release from Russell & Suitor is an excellent example of this phenomenon. It tastes of citrus and chamomile, white peach and chalk, tonic water, meal and smoked cream. It feels good, tastes good, and is interesting. It will also be an even better drink in another couple of years. For now, it’s clear that we’re in the hands of a quality producer."
