2016 Barone Montalto 'Ammasso' Sicily Red Blend
This property was established in 2000, making modern wines, from predominantly traditional Sicilian grape varieties. Ammasso is a blend of Nero D’avola, Nevello Mascalese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. After picking, the grapes are left in a fruit chamber for 2 months to dry. It all the hallmarks of a Sicilian red, fruit driven, with some candied / raisined characters. There’s also interesting roasted chestnut flavours as well.
