2019 Passing Clouds 'Estate' Macedon Pinot Noir
Graeme and Sue Leith planted their Bendigo property in 1974, with Shiraz & Cabernet Sauvignon. They started out making a hearty Shiraz / Cabernet blend, which they still produce to this day, under the Graeme’s blend.
After years of drought, they looked to Macedon and a cooler site to grow Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In 2010 their fruit was ready. By this time Cameron, second generation Leith winemaker had taken over the reins.
Today Cameron makes hearty Bendigo reds and delicate Macedon Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Riesling.
The fruit for this wine is off their Musk Estate vineyard, with a top elevation of 742m above sea level. The wine spent 11 months in French oak (some new). Leather and red fruit aromas are followed by a palate that offers up blue fruits, savoury tobacco and cleansing acidity.
