2019 Dominique Portet ‘Origine’ Yarra Valley Chardonnay

Dominique Portet has wine running through his blood. He grew up in Bordeaux where his father was chief of the cellar at Chateau Lafite, before settling in Victoria. After running Taltarni and Clover Hill he ‘retired’ in 2000 to the Yarra Valley, making wine from his own vines. Ben, his son now carries the baton.
This is 100% Chardonnay from a lovely, mature site in the Upper Yarra Valley. Is has been barrel fermented and gone through a wild yeast ferment. It is lean but showing cashew nut and vanillin characters.
