2019 Rosenthal Wines 'Garten Series' Great Southern Cabernet Sauvignon
This is the project of two winemaking mates, Coby Ladwig (Singlefile Wines) & Luke Eckersley (Plantagenet Wines). They have their full-time job and make Rosenthal Wines, at Plantagenet on the side. ‘Garten Series’ is their entry level range, offering everyday drinking styles.
- 94pts Sam Kim "Varietally expressive and inviting, the bouquet shows blackcurrant, ripe cherry, subtle spice, almond and a hint of dried herb notes. The finely textured palate delivers succulentfruit flavours together with polished tannins, finishing long and comforting. At its best: now to 2031. $28.00."
- 92pts Ray Jordan "This was a bit of a hold your nerve vintage but the result if you did was excellent, especially down in the Great Southern. This captures the typical savoury blackcurrant aromas of the variety on the nose. The palate is tightly held with a sinewy tannin thread and fine-grained oak working well with the linear fruit intensity. It’s neatly balanced with the structure to support medium to longer cellaring. Make sure you let this one breathe first – it makes quite a difference. Drink to: 2022-2031."
