2018 Punt Road ‘Airlie Bank’ Yarra Valley Sauvignon Blanc
The Napoleone family planted their property in the early 80s, on the site that was originally planted to vines in the 1860s. They have talented Tim Shand (previously at Giant Steps) as their winemaker. His Airlie Bank range pushes the boundaries a bit. This single vineyard SB is made in a Fume Blanc style. It’s fermented in old oak and has a punchy, gooseberry nose and a summery palate, without the over blown cats pee characters.
