2021 Patrick of Coonawarra 'Methode Eucalypt' Cabernet Sauvignon
Patrick Tocaciu had been winemaking in SA for 30 years before he purchased his first block in 1990. He had held chief winemaking positions at Tollana, Hollick Wines and Heathfield Ridge Winery. In 2004 he released their first wines, under the Patrick brand. In 2013 he passed away and eldest son Luke, took over the winemaking reins. This is the first release of the 'Methods Eucalypt' and only 60 dozen were made. The fruit for this wine is from the blocks around the gum trees. The resulting wine has aromas of cherry and choc mint. The palate is fresh and loaded up with black fruit flavours, hints of mint and prickly acidity, keeping it fresh.
