2016 Staindl Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir
Paul and Juliet Staindl had been looking for years for the perfect vineyard site. In 2003 they found that site, near the top of the Red Hill ridge. Paul had been working with Phillip Jones at Bas Phillip and spent two vintages in Burgundy before going out on his own. He and Juliet still travel to Burgundy each year to compare their wines against the best.
Paul produces three biodynamic wines, a Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their wines are made in tiny volumes. The Pinot has aromas of red fruits and a hint of truffle and the palate is beautifully textured and may I say a little Burgundian.
