2021 William Downie 'Cathedral' Yarra Valley Pinot Noir
William Downie is Pinot Noir winemaking royalty. After years of winemaking in Burgundy, he returned home in 2003, to start his own brand. Eighteen years on he releases Pinots from the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula & Gippsland. His wines and labels are stunning. Reg Mombassa is commissioned to design the Cathedral label.
It has punchy aromas - strawberry jam and cherry, making you think the palate may be quite sweet. It's not. Strawberry pith and rhubarb flavours are rounded out by some tart mulberry. This is a great little wine at a wonderful price.
